Indian restaurant food and toddlers - salt content...

Do you think it would be possible to ask for a Korma with no salt? For the toddler? Or would they think we were nuts? Want to go out to the local Indian (which we love) for DH's birthday...

Depends if it is cooked fresh or bought in in a sauce already prepared.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 09/03/2014 14:38

One saltier than normal meal won't harm a toddler.

IWantToMakePeppaBacon · 09/03/2014 14:40

It won't harm them as a one off.

HollaAtMeBaby · 09/03/2014 14:41

Think you are being a bit precious!

vestandknickers · 09/03/2014 14:42

They'll think you're nuts. It is only one meal, just enjoy!

MyNameIsKenAdams · 09/03/2014 14:43

Theyll think you are daft. Just shove a dollop of everything you order onto his plate and let him explore. He will end up eating mainly naan ill bet.

littleducks · 09/03/2014 19:12

I don't think they will be able took so it as the salt is added at the beginning of cooking not the end.

maybe chicken tikka, nan would be better?

littleducks · 09/03/2014 19:14

sorry chicken tikka, naan and salad

LynetteScavo · 09/03/2014 19:16

It will have been pre-prepared, so not possible.

My DC have all survived incredibly salty roast dinners at MILs. Although they do all become rather thirsty!

callamia · 09/03/2014 19:18

A toddler's kidneys will be able to manage a bit of a saltier dinner than usual - don't worry and let them enjoy it!

Beanymonster · 09/03/2014 19:18

I always give my dd a really healthy breakfast and lunch on a day that we are going out for dinner, I like to think it counters out any salt she will have with dinner!
Sounds a tad pfb, I don't think there can be that much salt?

LynetteScavo · 10/03/2014 19:41

I'm Envy of anyone who has a toddler who is able to be taken into a restaurant. Grin

Blueberry234 · 10/03/2014 21:54

My 3 year old has been for several curries and Chinese meals I tend to plonk a bit of everything on his plate as it is only one meal and I know he eats well at other meals. Curry wise he ends up mainly eating the poppadoms with the chopped up onion cucumber and tomato!

mrsbug · 10/03/2014 22:09

I agree with everyone else, as a one off it's fine.

DD (14 mo) had a masala dosa at our local indian restaurant and loved it.
