Meal Plan Help

I really need to cut down my food shopping bill and stop buying rubbish that I don't need. I tend to meal plan but then don't stick to it and we just seem to be having the same stuff each week. For example spent £200 on Friday and I don't seem to have anything left to make an actual meal. So I need inspiration to come up with new meal ideas and at the same time try and cut my bill down. We are a family of 7 all meat eaters and I have to do packed lunches for 4 dc and dh. If anyone wants to share their meal plans for this week and packed lunch ideas I would be really grateful Smile

Hi

I love meal planning (how sad is that?)
You could base menus around the 3 for £10 meat offers.
Eg a chicken, beef mince and pork steaks all for £10 make 4-5 evening meals for us. You'd need double for 7 people.

Sun: roast both chickens
Mon: chicken couscous or risotto or chicken noodle soup with left overs (add peas, sweetcorn, mushrooms, spring onions or leeks etc - whatever you fancy.)
Tues: Spag bol. Make a huge ragout with lots of added veg: peppers, onions, courgettes, mushrooms, tomatoes.
Wed: Chilli. Add lots of kidney beans and smoky paprika to ragout left overs and have with rice or baked potatoes and salad.
Thurs: Pork steaks. Eg cooked in wine with sliced fennel, red onion, apple and served with rice or mash and steamed greens or fry with chips, peas, carrots etc.
Friday: home made marguerita pizzas with salad. Add spicy sausage if you want.
Sat: kedgeree or fish goujons or salmon in soy and lime with stir fry veg and sticky rice or noodles.

Work out packed lunches in a similar way:
Monday - humous salad wraps, Tues ham salad sandwiches, Wed: bagels with cream cheese and salad, Thurs cheese and onion pasties.
Buy fruit, yoghurts, snacks, drinks etc according to how many you need that week.

Breakfast - eggs for pancakes or scrambling, oats for porridge, whole meal sliced bread for toast, 2 choices of cereals etc.

I reckon you could easily get all this plus the basics for £150-60 at most supermarkets, saving well over £50 per week if you spent 200 and have already run out of food.
