here they are

they look quite good for those with allergies aswell

I know dd and ds would like some of their concoctions but I'm not sure how big the portions are?

have tried a couple. good but prefer little dish. big enough for a hungry 14 mo - not sure it would be enough on its own for a hungry 2yo.

foxinsocks · 31/07/2006 18:01

wouldn't feed mine then (4 and 5 with big appetites!). That's a shame because some of the recipes look fab.

Dd2 (nearly 22 months)had the chicken/tomato/rice one on Saturday (got in from Sainsbury's).

It was really nice - portion was a decent size as well. TBH, I'm a bit of a 'food fascist' and the chicken wasn't organic but it had no added salt/sugar etc.

In fact, it lists the ingredients so I am going to try and make/freeze my own version.

they are 200g each. so, for comparison's sake, they are less than half of a typical adult's ready meal weight.

god i sound like a ready meal addict.

Tutter · 31/07/2006 18:04

just seen hotmama's post. maybe ds has a bigger appetite than i thought

hotmama · 31/07/2006 18:07

dd1 even (dd2 is 25 weeks)

In fact, dd1 didn't finish it- which is unheard of as she is a good eater.

CADS · 31/07/2006 18:23

Tried a couple of them a few months ago and ds didn't like them. Back then he would eat anything.

Also, think the portions are too small.

vitomum · 31/07/2006 18:26

I've tried them a couple of time and they represent a large portion to ds (2 and and a small appetite). I liked the idea of using it to try out a new recipe on him without having to personally sweat it out in the kitchen myself. Anything he likes i can then replicate.

hotmama · 31/07/2006 18:43

I think they are a good standby for lo's if, like me you are often crap in remembering to take something out of the freezer well in advance of lunchtime.

Angeliz · 31/07/2006 18:45

dd loves the sheperds pie and the risotto.

They actually are quite nice and tasty and not full of crap. Very good standby i think.

Angeliz · 31/07/2006 18:46

she's 17 months btw.

foxinsocks · 31/07/2006 18:47

I might try a couple then. I sometimes get caught short or I pick them up late from somewhere and have 5 mins to give them a meal - thought they'd be good esp in the winter when you can't get away with salad and sarnies so much!

Have you seen the woman in the TV ad though? Like she's a real Mum - she has a clean, white top on...not a single baby sick or food stain on it. And her kitchen is immaculate. And when the voice over says "leaving you free to spend more time with your baby" - she's actually spending more time with her baby rather than sitting at the PC on Mumsnet. Very unrealistic.

foxinsocks · 31/07/2006 18:55

lol

rather shamefully it was dd and ds who first saw the ad - they came through with totally fake TV accent and told me I could find these 'delicious meals in the freezer aisle'. That must be the catchy bit at the end of the ad.

lol marthamoo

nikkie · 31/07/2006 19:24

My Dd1 suggested them to me 'for when you can't be bothered cooking Mam' guess she has seen the ads too!

Angeliz · 01/08/2006 10:46

pmsl at Marthamoo and nikkie!

The thing that tells me they're nice is i can taste it happily!

bran · 01/08/2006 10:58

I used to give them to ds and he quite liked them, but now he only wants to eat what we're eating. It's a shame because it was very handy.
