Those ghastly flat toffee things from quality street. What can I do with them?

I was the lucky recipient of four boxes of quality street at christmas. I have loads of the flat toffees left, since even sweet toothed DD won't eat them.
Does anyone have any ideas how to use them too cook with? I wondered if they would soften up if I put them in a cake maybe.
I really don't want to throw them away - not sure why TBH since no body will eat them, but would like to try to use them.
HELP please.

Toffee pennies? You can send them to me!!

Or try melting them and pouring over ice cream or pancakes?

Send them to me! Wink

If I melt them, won't they go hard again?

Put them in a cellophane bag or jar to sell at the next school fête.

SuburbanSpaceperson · 26/01/2014 09:56

Do you live near water? They might be good for skipping over the water. Grin

The next time you make chocolate cornflakes/rice crispies for the school cake sale melt the sweets in with the chocolate.

Scarletohello · 26/01/2014 09:57

Oh they are my favourite!!

tshirtsuntan · 26/01/2014 09:59

Melt them with condensed milk in the pan as well ,they Don't go hard again then (banoffee pie fan here!)

MrsCosmopilite · 26/01/2014 10:00

I'll have them!

Dinnaeknowshitfromclay · 26/01/2014 10:01

I luss golden pennies! Just eaten four for brekky!

LastOneDancing · 26/01/2014 10:04

We've still got all the blue coconut horrors and the green triangles left.

Swap you?!

RustyBear · 26/01/2014 10:09

This year everyone at work brought in their chocolate leftovers - everybody had different ones, so they all got eaten.

CMP69 · 26/01/2014 13:15

Put them in apple crumble or pie, yummy

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/01/2014 15:53

LastOne - you have green triangles left?!!! They go first here. Bloomin love them.

Could you shove bits of the toffees into an apple pie or tart, OP?

hugoagogo · 26/01/2014 16:10

I love e'm toffees are my favourite. I had half a jar of orange creams strawberry creams and yukky coconut things left [bleugh] the dc took care of them for me.

I have a nice recipe somewhere for toffee apple buns, where you melt the toffees with a bit of milk and pour it on top if you are interested?

hugoagogo · 26/01/2014 16:13

here it is

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 26/01/2014 16:15

My favourites are the orange and strawberry creams! Follow closely by the caramel ones.

Snowdown · 26/01/2014 16:34

Melt them with double cream and you'll make a butterscotch sauce for ice cream or a sticky toffee pudding, freeze till you need it.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 26/01/2014 16:37

My mother adores the blue coconut ones. You used to be able to buy whole boxes of one type on their website. Gutted when they stopped doing that.

Sparkeleigh · 26/01/2014 16:38

Put them in the freezer and then smash them up when they're hard and use them in cookie mix along with any other chocolate rejects.

SuckItAndSee · 26/01/2014 16:42

take 'em into work, or send DH in with them? at times of great stress, my colleagues and I will eat ANYTHING made with refined carbs.

you are mad though - the toffees are the best.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 26/01/2014 17:31

Good idea about smashing them up and using them in cookie recipes. I wonder if DD could add them to the crumble she's making at school next week?
I can't take them into work, most of my clients are elderly. They'd break their dentures on them.
DH works in a homeless hostel. His clients aren't the sort to eat sweets.
