interesting food for 2 year old

I need some ideas on making food interesting for my 2 year old. He is a really fussy eater and will only eat a handful of foods, most of it rubbish. I thought if i could make things look i nteresting he might try new things. What do you think?

Ah cod you just wanted to remind us that you are truly touchingly sweet and fluffy from time to time (like on the other thread)

I think if you mean things like making pizzas into faces and all that, well personally I wouldn't go there unless you actually enjoy doing that sort of thing. But if you mean making the food on his plate look interesting and attractive as you would for any person you wanted to please, then go for it. A mixture of colours always looks nice and children seem to prefer small bite sized portions rather than a huge lump of something.

Something to dip is also popular. I would also try involving him in the preparation and choosing of his food so you could get him to choose a new fruit in the greengrocers, and when you are at home he could help butter his bread, cut the sandwich etc, chop up vegetables (ie mushrooms, works with a blunt knife) and even get involved in making some foods from scratch eg scones, pizza bases, bread, etc.

yes a lot of mums when their kdis start shcool give them and adult sized packed lunch

we do/ did a snack plate fo lunch whis is hjust load of different stuff in small buts - tailored to whatever each son will eat

a small sarnie some greated chees ein a pot, some cucumber slices, raisins mayeb aa handful of cripss to eb eaten last of course.... a slice of aslami rolled into a tube

Cod I do that too and ds loves it

will say "I don't want lunch can I have a snack plate instead?" and the stuff on the snack plate is probably more healthy than his usual lunch.

I do things like squares of bread and butter, or oatcakes, with peanut butter or hummus or philadelphia, some dried apricots or other fruit, cherry toms, slices of pepper, slice of malt loaf, etc

Yogurt mixed with fresh herbs is ok, or mashed avocado with tomatoes, or hummus, or for a treat sour cream.

green beans - do you cook them or can they be eaten raw? sorry i'm no good with veg, i just stick to things i know, which is why i have gotten in a rut with cooking same old things and now my ds won't try anything different

yes do green ebans ina litel bwol int he microwave for aboyt 3/4 ,ins and add a touch of butter
red peper is popular raw carrot adn apple chunks

I think any pepper except green is nice. Little florets of raw broccoli can be sweet tasting if they are fresh - or mange tout / baby sweetcorn if you're feeling extravagant.

Pin wheel sandwiches where you roll them up like a sausage roll and cut into thin slices are really cute if you can be bothered. A friend of mine does star shaped sandwiches. Cold sausages? I got great advice about alternatives to sandwiches lately, will find thread...
