Can I use an ordinary bowl instead of a jelly mould?

And if so is pyrex ok or should I use plastic? Can I risk tipping it out or should I play it safe and leave it in the bowl? It's an elderflower jelly with berries in so all the berries will be at the bottom if I don't tip it out ...

Not very experienced with jellies!

Yes. bowls are fine.

try putting the berries in when it starts getting thick and sticky then there's less chance of them falling to the bottom.

So if I use say a pyrex dish oatcake I'll still be able to tip it out ok will I?

Hi I make jello in bowls all the time though usually in plastic or metal ones, you may need to use a spoon to deflect heat if adding boiling water to the jello in the pyrex bowl. Not sure about whether the berries would stick to bowl or not, could try wiping with a little and I mean very little amount of non tasting oil so jello just slips out? Find plain hm and commercial jello without added fruit will usually come out without a problem for me.

sorry for delay. I've never had any problems with the jelly slipping out.

how did it go? did you make it? was it successful?

Well I found that the berries unexpectedly floated when I poured the jelly on (in a clear pyrex dish) and it all looked quite pretty like that with the berries on the top so I chickened out and let people spoon it out of the bowl!!

Only problem I hadn't anticipated was our fridge is on the blink so I had trouble getting it to set! Had to put it in friend's fridge when we arrived at their place!
