Pressure cooker tips

I know everyone loves their slow cooker but imam a bit forgetful and don't always put things on in the morning in time. I have now acquired a pressure cooker to help with cooking things quickly, mostly cheap cuts of meat that take a while to tenderise etc.

So far I have made chicken carcass stock which worked really well and cooked a small gammon joint.

Does anyone else have anything they find works well in a pressure cooker?

Glad you've tried stock. Soups and broths are fantastic because the PC keeps all the flavour in. I make batch quantities of Chilli Con Carne and Bolognese Sauce in mine. Actually did the Christmas Pudding in it this year and keep meaning to try suet puddings.

I need to google instructions for steamed pads, the instructions my cooker came with are a bit confusing bout puddings.

The chicken stock was great, took ten minutes while I was washing up and tasted really fresh, didn't fill the whole house with a soupy smell either.

I got a fantastic book for Christmas - don't have a pressure cooker yet but after having read this I am definitely getting one.

Recommend my WMF pressure cooker. They've replaced the scary 'wobbly weight' technology with a simple indicator button that rises and falls with the pressure. You still have to keep an eye on them but they are a lot less anxiety-making than the old fashioned designs.

Cooking beans like chickpeas and kidney beans. Soak for 4-5 hours (or overnight), pressure cook in the morning.
