Have visitors tomorrow for dinner and have no clue what to cook! I'm isually so organised but thrown for a loop this week.
Don't want to do soup/roast/baked dessert as it's a bit samey but have lost inspiration!
Help?!?

Smoked salmon is half price at the moment, so you could start with smoked salmon on blinis (you can buy some ready made for quick and easy)

I had coq au vin for tea tonight, (chicken thighs, bacon, shallots, mushrooms, bay leaves, stock thingy, bottle of wine) but some sort of stew/onepot always goes down well with lots of fresh veg and potatos.

The last time I asked for pudding advice on here they told me to do key lime pie. I do a cheesecake base with ginger biscuits and butter, and the top is a pot of cream, whisked (a half pint pot) then whisk in a tin of condensed milk, followed by the juice and zest of four limes.

You can have it all made in advance, and have a relaxing time.

Mmm HowBad that lime cake sounds delish! I'd love to try it.

Does it matter what size cake tin you use? Mine is 9 inches...

Do I need to use glycerin to help it set?

Walkdown if you stuck your roast in the oven you could tackle something unusual for the starter and dessert? Everyone loves a roast on Sunday. I wouldn't be at all worried about it being samey!

Starters are too much fuss...so I'd dive into mains. Ox cheek in red wine. Beef shanks in Korean BBQ sauce. Jamie Oliver's best ever lamb shanks. All cheap cuts, all cook slowly in the oven letting you get on with the rest of the stuff.
Pudding - cheese, Nigel Slater's choc and marmalade ice dream served with shortbread. The ice cream/biscuit combination works everytime just choose your favourites.

Sod starters just do some nice nibbles first...

Ended up doing roast beef in the end, also did 2 desserts, cheesecake (divine) and warm brownies with ice cream. Had soup or crudités or cheeses for starters so everyone milled around and helped themselves. It was lovely and relaxed.

Thanks so much for all of the suggestions
