Some Christmas money to burn...what's the best stand mixer?

I have been meaning to buy one for ages but can't decide between brands. Love the look (don't we all?!) of the KitchenAids but would rather go for durability and ease of use over aesthetics. I've seen that Heston's Sage one has a built in scraper that looks quite good...has anyone got one? I will use it for a lot of baking (often large quantities) and would quite like a machine that I an add to - pasta maker, ice cream maker, meat grinder, etc.

Thank you in advance!

DH bought me a kenwood chef titanium last Christmas, I was having the same debate with myself you are having!! It has the blender attachment and I got the ice cream one free. I love it. KA are pretty but everyone has kenwood chefs forever and they are British. Mine looks lively on my black granite Grin

I have been looking at the titanium....it's not cheap though, is it?! But probably worth it as I reckon I'd use it almost every other day, particularly with the attachments.

Think mine was about £400 from amazon. I love it and if you'll use attachments then well worth it. Lots of people said they had their mum's/gran's etc that were 40 odd years old!! That's amazing!!

I have a Kenwood chef premier, which I love. Comes with the blender, beater, whisk, dough hook and flexible beater. There always seems to be good offers on it to.

Currently deciding whether to buy the ice cream maker attachment. Is it any good mamababa?

I've got a kenwood prospero and love it. They are quite often reduced in sainsburys. I think we paid £110 with all the gadgets.

I love my KitchenAid, its a really hardworking piece of kit and and very easy to clean, unlike some other mixers I've tried.

Thanks all...I think the Kenwoods are sounding good. What's the difference between the chef ones and the titanium...is it just size of bowl & what it comes with?

Titanium are a bit fancier. All kenwoods come as chef or major. The attachments are basically the same. I used to have a chef but with doing a lot of baking and having five dc i found it too small, sold it and bought a 2nd hand major on ebay. My personal feeling is the titanium are more for show. They have a food processor attachment but i found a seperate dedicated good food processor is better. I use the mincer a lot and the pasta rollers are great. I have other attachments for grating but usually find the food processor easier for that. Would definiely go for the larger one.

The ice cream maker is ok Madame, as good as anything that 'slots on' rather than a plug in. Works best with low volumes and it does really need to go in freezer after production unless you like really soft ice cream. Tastes ace tho!!

I've got titanium chef cos DH bought it! Would have been happy with a big standard chef. The kenwood website is good dairy moo, take a look x

Bog standard bloody iPod!!

I got the Titanium chef as it was on a good offer on Argos at the time (last summer.) Didn't feel I needed the extra size of the Major.

It came with a Glass Blender and a Food Processor which I wanted.

I have loved it and use all the parts.

When making creamed cake mixtures the flexible beater is very good at scraping down the sides as it goes.
