I got married in 1992 and I still have some of the spices that came with the spice rack as a wedding present.

nothing I'm afraid! My dh is very hot on this and regularly clears everything out. My Mum dreads us going over as he sorts her fridge and cupboards out as well. He recently found Xmas puds that were 3 yrs out of date!

I still had student spices until just last summer and graduated an embarassingly long time ago. Felt rather nostaligic as I chucked them in the bin - Morrisons packaging just isn't what it used to be etc. Last November I finally finished off a bottle of brown sauce that was 4 years out of date. Tasted fine though.
I've got some edible cake decorations that must be getting on a bit, but the really prehistoric stuff is in the freezer.

I cleaned my mother's kitchen out a few years ago and found baking stuff from BEFORE the days of sell-buy dates, stuff I remembered from my childhood in the 60s.

I was recently using a big box of English mustard powder at Mum's & noticed it cost 27p .... How old is that ??

I have jam which my Nan made and she's been dead for 3 years but it still tastes fab and has no sign of anything 'growing' in it.

my mum has a bottle of lager with a sell by date on it of 1981, presumeably it dates from the late 70s. it has become a house relic, everyone checks to see if it is still in the cupboard by the fridge in the kitchen. all my friends from university (I left in 1990) still ask fondly after it. it is all a bit mysterious since no-one knows where it came from - my mother has never drunk lager in her life.

When we had our kitchen done before Xmas I threw away a small tin of arrowroot powder, which MIL had given me when we were first married. It cost 2.5p!!! I don't know what arrowroot is for and decided that after all these years, I can live without it.
