hi all

ok I've boobed a bit I think here. Baby squirm is on his first full week of solids. I think I read somewhere that you should probably start with just a teaspoonful. So far, courgette, babyrice, sweet potato and apricot have all gone down well but today he kept open his little beak for more (pear and rice) and so I ended up giving about 3-4 teaspoonfuls - I know it was probably silly but it was hypnotic seeing him want more. He's now a bit unsettled and screamy. Should I be taking it a bit more gently?

We had this with ds - its such fun watching them enjoying eating for the first time that you tend to get carried away with enthusiasm don't you dh was the worst for this as it was such a novelty for him to feed ds after months of me monopolising the feeding with my boobs 3-4 teaspoonfulls doesn't seem that much to me though I suppose it depends how old/big baby squirm is. If he's miserable you could always slow down a bit but I would never know if it was food, teeth or the state of the german economy that was upsetting mine though I may be a particularly unintuitive mummy I'm sure that pear and rice would not have done him any harm even if he's a bit full on it as I seem to remember that they're some of the least allergenic foods. Thinking back I also seem to remember that at first the main thing is that they don't take less milk so if he's still guzzling that I'm sure you're doing fine

Absolutely
Croak has said it all Squirmyworm, what you are giving him sounds ideal. FYI DS2 started 4 weeks ago at 5 months and ate far more in his first week of solids than DS1 did at 14 weeks, maybe the later you leave it the bigger their tummies.
Keep up the good work

i wouldnt worry to much about giving them to much at first its a new experiance i have beenweening mine for over two months now and i dont think i ever started him on a tea spoon of food a day try giveing him his milk before hand so he fills up more on that first while hes getting used to it plus the screaming is usualy wind mine suffered like mad from it when he was first on solids try keeping your little squirm sat up for about half an hour after you have winded him i found that helped disperse the wind easier so when you do put him down it dont lie so heavy on his little stomach
