substitute for Trex?

I have a recipe for a pie requiring half butter, half Trex. Am not keen on using hydrogenated fat, so was wondering what I good substitute might be? Dare i mention lard?

If it's for the pastry, all (block) butter would be fine.

I use Trex a lot... Intrigued as to why you won't use it in case I'm using it in blissful ignorance of something. You might need to adjust the amounts as typically you use less Trex than other fats.

Trex has no hydrogenated vegetable oil.

excellent - I am pretty sure it did used to contain hydrogenated fats, but if it no longer does, then I'll stick with the recipe.

It seems to be printed on the front of the packet (I looked on the Ocado app!). I was surprised as I assumed it must have hydrogenated fats in it.

Here you are. Trex definitely does not contain hydrogenated vegetable oils.

For light, crisp pastry a mixture of butter and Trex/lard gives the best results.
