finger food for a six month old baby

ok heres one i hope you can help me with my ds is six months old and love his finger biscuits (only one a day snack though)and he loves to feed himself anyone know any good finger foods i can buy or make for him as a meal so i can incourage him feeding himself as he seems so eager to do it and i dont want to hold him back he likes most foods and he can chew well but im a bit worried about giving him toast as it dont break down that quickly and could risk him choaking
hope you mumnetters can help

Those little round rice cakes from Boots, bread cut into strips and baked in oven until its hard but then melts on contact with mouth, raisins (I count them before and after to prevent choking, but then I am not known for my relaxed attitude to things.)

thanks to everyone my son is going to love you all i ent shopping today got the carrots and banana forgot the bread sticks though so i will try those tomorow oh yeah does anyone know if the sell the rice cakes in tescos if not i'll have to got to boots for them

Yes, I found them in Tesco's organic and "free from" section because they are free of gluten. They are made by baby organix. They are not marketed as babyfood as such - but it does say from 6 months on the packet.

just a quick update i gave my ds banana today after his dinner i felt like crying for him he was gripping it like his biscuit but where it waas so slimey it kept slipping oout of his fingers and after about ten minuits of trying he just droped it and looked at me as if to say i give up. so i gave him one of his biscuits for his dessert and he scoffed that quite happily looking at me smiling tomorow it going to be the steamed carrot i will actualy give it to him for a meal for his tea and see how he gets on with that then i will try the bread

thanks to everyone again i gave him the carrot today part boiled and as he was nibbleing (sucking it looked like) he was grining like a cheshire cat
