Do I really need a Panasonic bread machine?

Please advise me I've got an old morphy Richards fastbake which I use occasionally to make spelt and white bread and rolls and pizza dough. It's ok and the bread is passable, a bit heavy, but I read that the Panasonic one makes amazing bread!
Is it really worth shelling out for, will i notice the difference?
I'm thinking of getting it for Christmas

I replaced a Morphy Richards compact with my Panasonic and the bread is excellent. You probably would notice the difference. Just make sure the model you choose has a rye paddle, as you'll need that for spelt.

Thanks I've found one with a rye paddle. I didn't know that was good for spelt

I have one of the older models without one and can't make spelt bread or anything with more than a tiny touch of rye in. Apparently, the dough's too heavy for the standard solid paddle.

I find the bread from the Panasonic fantastic. I had an old machine from freecycle years ago and the bread was too heavy so never used it.

I replaced my old breville with a Panasonic 2500 - it is fab! Perfect results every time.

I thought the Panasonic was great until we tried making dough in the kitchenaid. The Panasonic is now in the garage.

If you only use the machine for dough then don't bother.

don't bother with a machine at all.

making it by hand is dead easy and really lovely.

all you need is a basic recipe and 2x 2lb loaf tins

I have a panasonic bread maker and I bake in it when I need a quick loaf, and I use it for a fruit loaf but I mainly use it for making dough as I just can't knead bread. It isn't technique but rheumatism in my fingers.

I have had mine for 4 years, I make a seeded granary mostly and it is like buying a loaf from a bakery. It tastes amazing.

Mine has a seed/nut hopper so that it drops the seeds into the mix at the right stage meaning I don't have to be listening out for the beeps plus it has the rye paddle (like fingers rather than solid)

I make pizza dough and naan dough too. I wouldn't be without mine. We previously had a bread maker about 10 years ago and the bread was just about tolerable.

But we went to a friend's house and I was talking to her in the kitchen when she popped the loaf out of the breadmaker and then I tasted it. I couldn't believe it was homemade.

Thanks for your replies to help me decide. I have made bread by hand but didn't enjoy the mess and kneading so I'd like the machine and I think it will make better bread than my current one.

I make dough in the Panasonic mostly - probably for 8 years now. I make better dough in the kitchen aid but it requires more attention - not much more but often I just want to throw ingredients in and get on with something else. Both have their place and I wouldn't be without either!

I adore my Panasonic breadmaker! Makes beautiful bread!
