Yes, I have, cook it like duck, and it tastes like a slightly gamey duck. I prefer duck, but a goose is great if you are feeding lots of people.

I have had duck a few times, so that's a good ref point. Thanks for that, I think I may give it a go!

Oh, misscph1973, I would have to disagree. Yes you cook it like duck, and yes it tastes absolutely delicious, but it won't feed lots of people. Geese are long thin things and the width of your oven, in my experience, will govern how many people you can feed from it. The really good thing, however, is the gallons of goose fat you get with which you can roast potatoes all year long!

Yes and it was yummy. I've heard it said a goose will feed 6 adults but ours fed 8 adults plus 3 children.

I made a fantastic mashed potato and leek stuffing to go with it which was delicious too (it was a BBC good food recipe iirc)

We had ace roasties that January too Smile

Agree with 4merly. There's hardly enough meat on a goose to feed hour people. And it gives up SO much fat - it clogged our drains up and the whole house smelled of goose fat for ages afterwards.
It was delicious though, but I'd never cook it again.

According to Terrie Wogan in the Sunday Telegraph, "There's no eating on a Goose, apart from the skin and the fat for your roasties"

Ohhh - I did goose one year and it was lovely, we really enjoyed it. If I knew anyone who was cooking goose I would invite myself over for dinner, sod etiquette - closed mouth not getting fed goose and all that.

However, I would never personally cook it again because getting my arse off the sofa every 20mins to drain fat took the piss.

I did goose last year. It was delicious and I intend to do it again this year. Absolutely delicious, and worth the effort.
IMO you can feed six, but I would prefer to feed four generouslyWink

stunning very rich meat. You dont need a lot but then again there isnt much on the bone. Very easy to cook. I did a turkey and goose one year. It wasnt hard at all. Dont stuff a goose either.

Collect the fat and have amazing roasties for months.

We raised our own geese and I was impressed with the taste and texture.
