Is this chicken safe to eat?

At the weekend I made lovely chicken and veg soup for freezing. I used fresh chicken thighs, let it cool, put it into containers and froze straight away.
I set one out to defrost in the fridge last night and had it for my tea this evening. However, there's tons of the defrosted soup left! It turns out the containers might have been a bit too full!
If I leave it in the fridge, will it be safe to eat for my lunch tomorrow? Seems a shame to waste it as it was lovely, but I'm always cautious with chicken.

It will be fine. Most people leave soup hanging about on the hob for a few days Grin not that I'm recommending that - as always, cool it, chill it then make sure you reheat properly, and it will be fine.

Thanks :) I was so proud of myself for freezing individual portions too! There must have been a lot - it's not often I leave food on the plate!

So to sum up, cook chicken - freeze chicken - defrost chicken - reheat chicken - refrigerate chicken - reheat chicken is acceptable?

I wouldn't.

I doubt it.

It'll be fine. I'll have some.

Fair enough Soup, all the people I know, including me leave soup hanging about on the hob for a few days. That better? Hmm

Op your summary is correct IMO for chicken soup. I wouldn't reheat bits of chicken more than once as it would be tough and dry. But soup is fine IMO.

Me too Wilson Grin
I'd eat it.

Idespair · 18/11/2013 22:06

No I don't think it's ok to reheat twice and I wouldn't.
But having said that, you could blast it and so long as you're not pregnant or whatever you could risk it and it probably would be ok.

It's cooked for goodness sake. It's OK to eat.
