French Food - A tall order? Please help SecurMummy's dd2!

DD2's French club has decided that this year, rather than a parents show they will be having a session of food tasting, cultural events and historical plays....sounds great!

But, guess who gets to make the food....yup - that's right! The letter suggests, a baguette - I would really rather like it if dd managed to take more than a baguette (especially if there will be 6 there already from the other children , I am sure even the most imaganitive French teacher will be stumped by that! )

So, any ideas please? It needs to be something that can be prepared the night before (by dd if possible). Carried around all day in a school bag and not refirigerated (the school don't allow student food in the fridges). Oh yes - and French!

Thanks for your help!

Can't you make dessert things with Brioche? Any ideas about those?

mmmm-pate but would have to put it in a cool bag, ditto cheeses like brie etc.
there is no food really that doesn't need keeping cool.

I can manage a cool bag overnight kept in the fridge then in bag the next day so will not be as good as a fridge - but will be cool IYSWIM

crepes?!!

Kelly1978 · 11/07/2006 18:59

you can put just about any dried fruit in the mix, and then drizzle a bit of icing over the top. I eat it on it's own, warmed up, mmm!

Tarte tatin
mange tout

OK. Crepe. Or madelaines, little french cakes, or canapes. Have a look at the french recipe site, marmiton, which now also has an english translation....allez

That website is marvellous - dd has just been watching the food for children presentations

Ok, so far I am thinking Brioche with dried fruit and icing - nice and easy for me
or choclate cream recipe from the site - more fun for the children to eat but lots more work for me

Any other ideas welcome!
