I used a recipe I found on the Internet but it was waaaay too runny. The pre bought stuff I've had in Lakeland kits before was like cement!

Can anyone recommend a recipe more cement like for constructing gingerbread houses?

Thanks

One egg white beaten , add icing sugar until it is the right consistency. That's it! I've always used that recipe and it has held together fine until dc have demolished it

Thanks Maureen. I guess I followed the recipe too slavishly and should have just kept adding sugar!

I cheat and use the royal icing sugar packs. Always works for me and good value if you don't need loads in one go.

2ofsteds, where do you buy the ready made?

I tyhink 2ofsted means the boxes of royal icing sugar you can buy. It has egg white powder in it, so you just add water and make up the amount you need

I've never heard of that! Will check it out

That boxed stuff never works for me.

I just do 2 egg whites, teaspoon of lemon juice and a load of icing sugar. Mix until thick enough.

hermione, you can buy the royal icing in the sugar isle in Asda, small blue and white box, add as much as you need with drop of water and beat .if you are abit of a novice at these things this maybe better for you unless your feeling adventurous and go for the egg white.
