Ok before I get shot down in flames. I admit it I hate cooking(although I did force myself to do purees for DD) Its not been a problem prev because MIL looked after DD whose 2.2 and gave her cooked meals etc but now im on maternity and im stuck as to what I can give her to eat.

I need ideas for daytime meals and then I also need ideas for evening meals that dh and I can also eat. ATM DH and I eat stir fry's or anything that comes from a jar. ie jarred pasta/curry sauce, sausage casserole or the chilled meals at asda ie chicken in mango sauce and then I do rice or potatoes etc

I need something thats quick and easy
tia

I'm not a brilliant cook either kbaby, and frankly don't have time to spend hours when we get home from work/nursery.
Couscous is great, because you just leave it to sit in boiling water for 5 minutes. Then add some sort of tomato/vegetable/chickpea/mince/whatever sauce.
Mentioned on another thread that I often use Rizazz packet rice, then add a few freshly cooked veg and tinned fish. Very quick and tasty (but might be high in salt, I'm not sure)
Tortillas - again, a tomatoey sauce with mince or beans, grated cheese on top. The tortilla heats up in about 1 minute in the frying pan.
Hope that's helpful. I'm sure someone else will have something more culinarily delightful for you.

hi
not sure what she likes but i do the following things for my boys and they usually go down well.
cauliflower/brocolli cheese and potatoes
spag bolognese (or just pasta with a simple tomato/garlic/olive oil/herbs sauce) and cheese
macaroni cheese
couscous and roasted veg
stew ( you can make this in a massive load and freeze portions. Just cook it on a low heat for a couple of hours and it makes thhe meat tender - sorry if you know this already).
baked potato/beans/cheese/tuna
scrambled egg and toast
pizza (just buy a base, or use french bread, stick some red pesto or toms and cheese on top wth any toppings your dd likes and stick in the oven).
soup - really easy, potato, sweet potato, onion, garlic, carrot, leek. stick some butter/oil in large pan, add all veg, fry for a couple of mins then add a load of stock (i use just bought chicken stock cubes) and bring to boil then turn down and cook for 20 mins. blend it and add a splash of cream or milk. again you can freeze portions of this.
salmon steaks cooked in tinfoil in the oven. takes 15 mins to cook (just put salmon in a tin foiil pouch with some olive oil and lemon) serve with any veg or pasta, rce, whatever.

sorry if these are totally off te mark!

Unfortunately for you I love cooking and few of my meals can be done in less than half an hour! Macaroni cheese is a good one.
Wrap cooked brocolli up in slices of ham, pour over cheese sauce and grill the top.
Fry off some finely chopped onions and courgettes for 5 mins. Stir in loads of double cream and loads of parmesan, add to cooked pasta. That is really tasty and only takes 5 mins.
Do you have time to prepare and bake something? Lay raw chicken in bottom of casserole dish. Cover with raw broccoli florets. Mix a can of cambell's condensed chicken soup with a few dstspns mayo, one level curry powder and wee drop milk. Cover broccoli. Cover this with fresh breadcrumbs (just grate some stale bread) and bake at 180 for hour and half. Add grated cheese to top and bake for another 10 mins. Yum.
If your roast a chicken, just leave it to cool for 10 mins and then pick all the meat off for a chicken salad. Throw some leaves cucumber and toms together with peppers and pour over some croutons and caesar dressing. Add some parmesan shavings and wrap it all up in a tortilla.

Omelette?

kbaby · 11/07/2006 13:00

Thanks everyone.

I made an omlette on Friday which went down a treat. Ill need to stock up on fresh veg etc when im next shopping and try and put your suggestions to the test. Generally we have nothing here that I can even cook with which tends to make things worse. Ie no fresh veg, potatoes etc.
