Ok so i have a friends son every week from school, he comes for tea then i take him home.
He doesnt like this, doesnt like that food wise.......
So today i asked him do you like pasta, tuna, sweetcorn....."OOOH yes" says he with enthusiasm.

I made the above, tuna and sweetcorn in the middle, pasta round the edges like hair round a face, tiny tomatoes as eyes, smile made out of cucumber.

Placed it with pride on the table and called them in....
He comes in says "need to wash my hands, dont like cucumber dont like tomatoe, im going to take them off"

Im proper pissed off and shall not be going to such effort again i can tell you.
What do you do when kids are SO fickle and SO fussy. It really is a nightmare and i realy hope that my ds doesnt end up like that.

donbean - if he is only 2 then I would expect it to be a bit more tricky. Sorry thought he was much older.

SD,my dd can be like this.
It infuriates me but no way will I let her choose something else.

soupy!
Wilfred, do you find it a battle to keep your 2 year old at the table or does he/she follow your older child?

Bit of both donbean really. She is still in a booster chair which keeps her more contained although she can fasten and unfasten it. She if fine for breakfast and lunch but sometimes a bit of a pain in the evening. Also you can guarentee that the children will alternate between eating really slowly. And sometimes DS will take forever to eat his main, then DD will take forever to eat his pudding. So generally it is OK but does get tedious. Also if other children are visiting and they get down she immediately insists on getting down or if the doorbell rings.

"ahhh, he only likes it the way i make it"

I pity any future girlfriend!

future girl friend will have to let him do all the cooking, if he's fussy.

if mine are taking too long I give a time limit, finish in the next 5 mins. it works ok, they speed up if they're hungry then.

my neices are horrifically fussy eaters, their mother tried really hard when they were babies, lots of Annabel Karmel stuff. she gave up really, mainly because they were tiny skinny twins and she was always worried about their weight, and them eating anything at all. now they are 13, their sister is 9, all are appalling eaters. and all still small and thin. you can see how it happens that they get away with it. Their parents are ver on the ball about most things but the toddler eating battles got too much and they gave in.
