milk alternatives?

Dd has decided she doesn't want to drink formula milk any more. She's never drunk much to be honest, 3-4 4oz bottles a day. She's 16 months. She will eat a small amount of cheese, hates yoghurt except soya desserts and is generally a bit of a small eater. I was wondering if anyone has any good milk alternative suggestions for a picky little eater.

milkshake? Chocolate with extra vitamins is good (well, it tastes good!). Or whizz up with fruit such as bananas and honey, or commercial yoghurt smoothies via a straw. Cheese sauces on veg? From the research I've read, calcium at this point in their life is a good thing.

Yes, I think calcium is vital. I could definitely try a milkshake and some fruit smoothies. Even if she just downs an ounce or two here and there it's got to be better than nothing, no?

Aloha, do you live in Peckham?

Ok, so today she had only 4oz milk all day. Wouldn't go for any chocolatey tricks. Only other calcium type food she had was a 2cm square of cheese and a soya dessert. Should I be worried?

very interesting twiglett, I was surprised to note that skimmed milk had slightly more calcium than full fat milk.

Evita, what type of milk shake did u use? My dd is on an awful formula milk and I have to put crusha milk shake syrup in it, approx 1 tsp, banana flavour. She also eats the soya deserts and doesn't like the chocolate flavour, can u imagine? Why not try other flavours, my dd liked the banana one straight away, try it in the formula milk.

Does she like cheese spread? that is supposed to be calcuim enriched, "so they say"

Dinasaur mentioned chocolate spread in one of my threads. when i went to the supermarket i noticed some had vitamins in and were calcuim enriched too. anyway dd was not a big fan of it and will have some now and then on a pancake, toast etc. I, on the other hand really love it.

I know how stressful it is, I go through a similar thing, she rejects something different each week.
Hang in there, maybe try ang get more cheese down her if she likes that, my dd likes edam cheese slices, nice and mellow.

Thanks guys. Alas I can't do the things on bread as, ahem, dd won't eat bread. I'll try some milk shake varieties. And I'll check out that calcium web link, so thanks.
