ive seen a 'soupmaker' where you put everything in it and it cooks it then blends it,job done!

was going to get a blender as my hand blender splattered everywhere (then I melted it).

any recommendations? ideas? what do you al ldo if you aren't leaving it chunky?

We just use a hand blender and yes, we always blend our soups - none of us are particularly keen on lumpy bits.

how do you stop it making a mess? mine splatters everywhere and ends up on the wall tiles etc

Umm, I do use a very large pan so that probably helps prevent the splattering.

run now it through a colander or a sieve if you're not as lazy as me to get rid of the lumpy stuff Smile

I've got the kettle style soup maker - it's the cheaper and simplest of the ones around. You can do chunky or smooth soup. It's another bit of kitchen gadgetry and clearly same results can be achieved with pan and stick blender, but I find it very convenient to bung in ingredients, put the lid on, select chunky or smooth and let it get on with the job

I use a liquidizer after making it in the pan.

If you have a hand blender, just make sure it stays under the soup if you follow. Tilt the pan so the soup is deeper one one side and blitz until lump free. Never had it up my walls yet
