.....in fact I am rather glad!

Ds (6) has never eaten any form of cheese before (unlike his sister who eats stilton, brie etc etc) and yesterday in school he ate a dairylea cheese sandwich (school meal)

Great! Now I can try to wean him onto the real stuff!

do you care that you can't spell sandwich though?

hunkermunker · 04/07/2006 13:27

The way I read it, MB, was that CM was talking to Iklboo about her son's diet and encouraging her as to what she could do - not criticising you at all. I don't think the post you quoted was written with your OP in mind.

hunkermunker · 04/07/2006 13:28

Shit, am I peacemaking?!

WTF?!

I'm normally the stirrer...!

waterfalls · 04/07/2006 13:28

pmsl

SaintGeorge · 04/07/2006 13:29

I was sat here thinking just that HM. All ready to post calming words and up pops trouble and does it for me.

Verrrry strange.

Blandmum · 04/07/2006 13:30

I can spell it sometimes see OP!

HM you are just a surface 'fluffy'

It feels weird, SG. VERY weird. I don't like it one bit

hunkermunker · 04/07/2006 13:31

Yes, you're right. I will let my inner bitch out in a moment

Blandmum · 04/07/2006 13:34

LOL at 'inner bitch'

Something we should all embrace from time to time.

I'm stressed atm, as I am helping to organise an open evening and the person 'working' with me, isn't I finish work at 11.30 on a tuesday (part time) and I am still sorting stuff out now. Plus dh has his check up tomorrow and that always makes me a bit freaked

Must be the heat hunker. Try a cool, damp cloth on your forehead for a while.

FrayedKnot · 04/07/2006 13:41

Blusters in..

That's great MB. I started eating salad aged about 9, ONLY if it was smothered in Heinz salad cream.

When I was about 18 I graduated to proper french dressing

He'll be graduating to Bourssin in no time!

Iklboo · 04/07/2006 14:04

clumsy - sorry had to nip out. Not patronising at all, 'tis advice. We have started giving him separate flavours (like we'd eat dinner - spoon of chicken, spoon of veg type thing)and he's really enjoying it

clumsymum · 04/07/2006 15:08

Cheers Iklboo. It worked for us, but obviously isn't guaranteed for everyone.

I'll assume that MBs post from 1:25 was some sort of apology, altho a 'Sorry' would have been nice

(NOW I'm being patronising. It's just that I think I'm justified OK? )

LucyCampCat · 04/07/2006 15:11

My dd2 also likes 'plastic cheese' as she calls it! she especially likes it on toast where it does the most bizarre thing under the grill

Iklboo · 04/07/2006 15:12

I certainly didn't read it as patronising & condescending - just that you were giving info that it worked well for you and you hoped it would for us too.

I think it's great that MBs little one has started trying things he's never eaten before. I'm sure that DS will go through phases of not wanting to eat things he's enjoyed before, not wanting to try new food etc. I was just worried that i shouldn't be giving DS laughing cow for some reason (eg an unpasteurised cheese or really high in additives & stuff)

cori · 04/07/2006 15:19

Just wanted to add that my DS was weaned on all manner of adult foods too. DH is a chef and didnt want a picky, fussy child. Guess what happened, he is four and has only recently consented to eating any thing green or with flavour.

Iklboo · 04/07/2006 15:21

That's children for you . Your best laid plans and all that...

northender · 04/07/2006 15:33

Surely Laughing Cow cheese isn't unpasteurised? Additives probably but wouldn't think unpasteurised. Sure there are much worse things you could be putting on the toast.

coppertop · 04/07/2006 15:40

Congratulations, MB. I know just what an achievement it is. Dairylea and dry bread is the only kind of sandwich ds2 will eat.

Good luck to you and Mr MB for the check-up tomorrow.

Iklboo · 04/07/2006 15:44

I know - I was being silly thinking it might not be pasteurised. Can't believe the fuss I've kicked off! I'm SO sorry

EmmyLou · 04/07/2006 17:20

Iklboo -probably got loads of salt in it though which is a hanging offence. Always wondered why my dd3 loves olives so much...us lentil weavers get our children's salt hits in such refined ways don't you know
