Baby's First Cutlery

Hi, Can anyone recommend a good set of baby cutlery I can buy to help my daughter to start self feeding? I have read that angled ones are good as babies wrists are not developed enough to enable them to get food out of bowl properly but not sure if this quite true?! Thanx.

I just used the weaning spoons and then regular teaspoons and waited until DS showed an interest in feeding himself - finally happened when he was about 15 months old - then got him a little tommy tippee set from Mothercare which he likes because they have short, fat handles which are good to grip - though he will feed himself with pretty much anything at this point (now 16 and half months old)

dd got miriam stopard chunky ones, she loves them recently bought metal fronted ones from asda and she seems happy cause its more like grown ups. funny that they want the same thing we use.

Agree with divamummy - dd (14mths tomorrow)feeds herself using an ordinary teaspoon. There would be no point offering her anything else because she only wants what I use. ps it drives me mad but hey!

isn't that what fingers are for?

I used those soft plastic spoons with ds, and then a set of metal cutlery with plastic handles from boots. I think the brand is vital baby or similar. A normal teaspoon is fine, but obv normal forks and knives aren't.

Thanx everyone for your advice. My daughter only sometimes tries to take spoon from me whilst feeding so I let her try and feed herself but she doesn't really take food from the spoon, it's just because she wants to chew on the soft plastic!! I have also found it hard to give certain finger foods as at 9 mths old she already has 8 teeth and just shoves food in and takes a big bite which results in me gettin scared she may choke and trying to retrieve bits from her mouth! So some things I break up into small chunks but too scared to give things like apple! Any suggestions for 'safer' finger foods?
