I have dropped myself in it, I have invited more people than I have beds for, and more than I know how to cook for. So please give me meal ideas, especially casserole/onepot/type things, and even better if it can be ,made ahead and frozen.

I did similar yr before last. It was tiring but worked ok food wise. My plan went along the lines of:

23rd: lamb stew with orzo - make & freeze other than adding orzo

24th: always do big glazed gammon with jacket pots and red cabbage, frozen peas - make red cabbage ahead & freeze. Bought panetone or similar for pudding

25th: usual, make sauces ahead, also parmesan parsnips which freeze well. Make pudding ahead and steam in slow cooker.

26th: big brunch e.g. Smoked salmon, bagels, scrambled eggs etc
supper - cold cuts, bubble and squeak, nice cheese, leftover puddings, mice pies

27th: spaghetti and meatballs with bread and salad. Make sauce and meatballs ahead. (could do lasagne but advantage of meatballs is fussy people can have just pasta and sauce/pasta cheese, meatballs and jacket pot and all ok)

28th: fish pie green veg (make fish pie ahead and freeze)

29th: I got lots canape/party stuff from m&s, made a quiche (made ahead and froze), leftover cheese, massive apple crumble (made ahead)

Shed loads wine for me!

Lunches were soup (made ahead), eat out, sausages or cheese crackers leftover meat, pickles etc. Did bacon sandwiches, porridge and croissant/pastries xmas morning. Other mornings porridge, cereal or toast - help self.

i also kept an emergency shepherds pie in freezer.

Sausage and mash, toad in the hole, veg chilli, tortilla wraps, soup or casserole, pizza and chips, jacket potatoes, buy a few of the ready made fresh pastas anf serve with sauce and a nice salad...

When we hosted xmas for my family I got loads of the M&S party food type stuff for xmas day evening/ boxing day- basically we stuffed ourselves with all sorts of 'mini' food that could be bunged in the oven on a disposable tray Grin

Also delegate different people to bring different items, eg one couple responsible for wine, another responsible for bringing cheese/crackers, another for a few desserts.... otherwise it will cost you a fortune!

We regularly have 12 of us in the house for 3 or 4 days at a stretch and to be honest it is not the cooking but the absolutely relentless loading and unloadinding of the dishwasher, clearing up of the kitchen etc. Make sure everyone pulls their weight in this area.
I would factor in takeaway night and dinner out one evening to give yourself a break.
