Cooking novice to wean baby = tins and jars! Help!

Okay ladies, I am the goddess of frozen food but have now bought a food processor, which is sat on my very clean work surface in my very clean kitchen (purchase of item of kitchen equipment led to spring clean of kitchen... my hands may never be flexible again!)
The idea is to use it for baby food since I thought I would go all earth mother and not fill him up on Hipp and Heinz. It took me ages just to figure out how to put it together, then it took me ages to work out how to actually use it
I've just had a go at grating cheese in it and very exciting it was too - not to mention scary, all that noise and whirring blades. But then it has to be able to do more than that if I am to use it to wean DS2 in a short while - I seem to have had it in mind that if I bought a food processor, food would magically appear in it, all mushed up and ready (the cheese is for us BTW, not him)
Erm, supposing I boil some carrots, what do I do then? Do they go in the liquidiser jug bit? And whilst I am on the subject, what else do I do to wean him... Mashed potatoes?
Am useless I know, but I don't do kitchens.... I should just stick to tins
Seriously, help!

i cheat when it comes to making baby meals i make ours then think can i blend it if i think yes then a portion of ours gets blended portioned out for the baby then froze ready made meals lol cheese and potatoe mash is about the easyest ive done but then i got a bit extravagant i was making chicken with a tomatoe and basil sauce with chips so i blended his with some sweet potatoe and he loved it and trust me he can be the fussiest eater going if he wants to be and before then he refused to eat meat then again hes only six months old so i cant moan if any one want the recipe please read on

two large sweet potatoes
ten slithers of chicken boneless (we dont want to work to hard now lol)
1 tin of plum tomatoes
tea spoon of dried basil
baby rice as and when needed

right lets cook
peel and chop sweet potatoe into small chunks
put into a pan of boiling warter to cook
add chicken to water and cook at the same time
cook tomatoes and basil
throw it all in a blender and blitz
meals for close on two weeks done
can be frozen for over a month

for us adults
fry the chicken in a frying pan with a touch of oil
cook the tomatoes with the basil and blend once cooked
pour the tomatoes over the chicken and serve with rice or pasta or chips or salad
i cheated i got the recipe off one of those frozen ready meals and mine come out better made it looked like i spent hours in the kitchen slaving over a hot stove when it actualy only took me less then ten minuites and i was told if i ever had a dinner party to serve that because it looked fancy well i wasnt going to tell them any different if my partner wants to think that i would spend hours slaving over a hot stove with a baby to look after he dont know me that well
well i hope this helps some mothers out there working or not because kids can be full time on there own

my attitude is we spend to much tme in the kitchen as it is so cook theres while cooking ours and lisa put that blender to good use by blendin down some scots porrige suttible from four months and if you got a microwave add milk and porridge together stir cook 30 secs done but if you want to give it flavour what i do is i buy 6 small apples sweet ones are best peel slice cook blend put into ice cube tray tin of peachs in natural juice even easier open put in blender blend put in ice cube tray same with tinned appricots then you could defrost one of the fruites to give the porridge a bit of flavorwith no added sugar apart rom the natual stuff plus if you look and the jars by heinz its apple and appricot or peach and appricot or apple and peach its all in the freezer ready just the case of taking what you want out the night before putting it a dish to defrost ready for meal i know where you are coming from we started ours on jared thinking it was best and now we got the fun of the transistion from jar to homemade and all i can say is think of a veg put it with sweet potatoe more often than not they will like it just remember to keep the normal foods (not breakfast or fruit) bland or you can bland them down with a bit of baby rice and his or her normal formula

Ooooh my DD was weaned on tins of Heinz rice pudding and Heinz egg custard - reason - she refused to go near anything I cooked!! (I am a domestic goddess too - ask SB!!) - Even got into it when she ws older making batches of food with low salt cheese sauce and low salt gravy - bloody cost a fortune and took ages and she still refused!!

Eats anything you put in front of her now though!!

Swaer when I have anohter baby it will have lovely homemade food though but knowing me it will probably only eat farleys rusks or something else that yucky!!
