MN Test: can you really judge character by the contents of a lunchbox?

For the first time ever, i have to make DS a packed lunch for a school trip. He knows the rules are no sweets, nuts, fizzy drinks and glass bottles. Between us we have planned what to have.
Knowing what you do (or think you do) of me - what will be in DS's packed lunch on Thursday?

You can be as detailed as you think necessary to prove your point!

oh, and the school have asked that it be in a carrier bag that can be thrown away afterwards so that they don't lug it round, not an actual lunchbox.

I was only joking! Sorry.

tamum · 27/06/2006 22:21

Now you see, that would have been an excellent guess...

helsy · 27/06/2006 22:22

I thought Mercy was Blu . Definitely time for bed.

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 27/06/2006 22:23

ahem. having just checked through the whole thread to make sure can I just point out that the cake-sharing was MY IDEA.

Blu · 27/06/2006 22:27

6 Donuts! LOL.

I tell you what - I'm SO pleased I don't have to do a packed lunch every day! It's nreve wracking!

Oh, a Frube was something i considered - but he can't open them by himself - half a point, HMC!

LOL at marthamoo, and also the lunchboxometer and the MN In-Joke Lunchbox...and Spidey - i hope your early night was worth it

oooh, twwtswat - yes, sorry - and actually, it was an idea that felt very close to judging character correctly through lunchbox contents - and therfore (even though Cam's total ensembl felt very warm), YOU WIN!

wwwoooo hoooo. do I get a fairy cake as a prize?

Blu · 27/06/2006 22:33

Wouldn't you prefer DS's rejected chardonnay?

(you see how irresponsible Twiglett is??)

OP posts:
Twiglett · 28/06/2006 08:29

wow ...I was wrong on everything

and wow that's a lunch for an adult .. 2 sandwiches? AND a chicken leg

if he was at DS's school he definitely wouldn't have time to eat all that

PS if you do ever do frubes .. put a frozen one in .. it keeps the rest of the food cold and melts by lunchtime (although DS is disappointed at the melting because they normally eat them as icicles)

I have to do ds's lunch box for nursery twice a week - they must think I am an appalling mother because most days it consists of:
pasta with pesto or cheese sauce
Yoghurt and honey and granola
box of raisins and two organix biscuits...
(hangs head in shame) - excuse is I KNOW he'll eat it!!

Bozza · 28/06/2006 09:51

Sounds OK blackduck.

I went on DS's school trip and it was a revelation. Boyblu has quite a reasonable amount of food compared with some. The smallest boy in the class had:

6 sandwiches (1/4s)
2 packets of crisps
2 chocolate bars (twix and penguin)
2 yoghurts
3 bottles of fruit shoot
1 apple

DS and I had only that amount to share at. We were a bit on a novelty like blu though. And didn't have the disposable constraint.

MrsJohnCusack · 28/06/2006 09:54

Throwing away carrier bags?

no, a nice recycleable paper bag he can bring home again or the teachers can collect I think
Naughty school

jamsambam · 28/06/2006 09:57

this is quite interesting, im a beaver scout leader and when we do days out the crap that gets given to our beavers is amazing!

my own ds's have some allergies so im always checking thier lunch and the school has to make sure they dont swap with the others.i always use old paper bags and napkins to wrap stuff, they cant touch cling film and ds2 hate foil, so we are quite reuseable i suppose!

Blu · 28/06/2006 11:29

It does seem a lot of food to me. The sandwiches will be qute small, and it's a small apple. Shopping now done (in between school run and work) - it was deli salami in the end, he has a choc cake bar (not iced), and it will be Ribena rather than juice as the cartons are bigger and I am worried about his thirst on a hot day. I know...others would give water....

Twiglett - do they DO chardonnay in plastic picnic bottles or little cartons for lunch boxes, do you think?

aaaah, thank you, ShoppingSecret!

They had a fantastic time...the highlight seems to have been a demostration of how a toilet works!

He says he ate all of his lunch, except he only had one bite of his apple because 'it was the sort that makes you choke'. Hmm, yes, notorious, 'Pink Lady' Apples.

3 parents forgot to provide a lunch at all. One child, despite the 'disposable' instruction, had a picnic in a chiller bag which was on wheels.

PMSL at the meal on wheels blu!
Somehow managed to miss this entire thread. Very amusing reading.
Question is, did the four nits tag along?
