American style cupcake cases and trays - where do I get them from?

I had thought they were muffin trays and bought a muffin tray and cases but they're huge. What I'm after are the same circumfrance as the more traditional English fairy cakes but the depth of the american cakes that they term cup cakes. Anyone know where to get them?

not sure I've seen the things you're referring to - I always thought cupcakes were identical to fairy cakes but Lakeland is always a good place to start.

I think I know what you mean, but not sure where to find them. Do these look right (scroll down to 'red heart cupcake case' about a third of the way down). Something like Nigella would use for her little cakes on the front of the Domestic Goddess book? Or the ones that they eat in 'Sex and the City'. Or some large petit four cases?

I use muffin trays and cases ( or usually don't bother with cases) to make cupcakes - you can buy all sorts of trays and cases from various places ( usually in NA but Lakeland or John Lewis would also have a good selection) Fairy cakes are cupcakes, just smaller!

Think i know what you mean Wills but no idea where to find them ... I have the Lakeland muffin cases which are pretty big, then the next size down I can find is your bog standard fairy/cup cake size however, only the other day came across a mid-sized case just as you describe. If you find them, please update us!!

There's a fancy cake shop in London called Jane Asher (www.jane-asher.co.uk) that has anything and everything you could think of, but it's not very cheap - they use words like "sugarcraft" - how scary is that? - (bearing in mind I'm someone who could screw up a betty crocker box thingie! )

MrsBadger, not really. They're about the same size as our fairy cakes but taller and straight sides.

Spot on with the domestic goddess cover though! Those are definitely not fairy cake size. Think I've found something possible in lakeland refered to as a deep bun tin. Nervous to buy lest it proves wrong.

I'm sure my tin came from Lakeland and the cases from Tescos.

Must admit the bun tin from Lakeland does look right.

Think you can buy "bun tins" in tesco too. i bought some at Christmas to make mince pies in.

Agree that you want them smaller than muffins.
