Help! I need fish ideas

I have been trying to get dds to eat more fish. I love fish and we have it a couple of times a week. DD2 likes smoked salmon, prawns and fish fingers (with the breadcrumbs taken off), DD1 is a little less keen but will eat a bit.

I have made fish pie which went down OK, however I am looking for something to do with cod, haddock, mackeral etc.. As DD2 only like fish fingers with the breadcrubs taken off I thought she's proably like baked white fish but it wasn't very popular when I gave it her last night.

So to put it simply do you have any suggestions of simple (quickish) fish dishes that young kids (4.9 and 2.4) might like?

Have you thought of doing fish goujons? Try getting pieces of (say) cod, dipping in egg then flour then frying gently?

Or what about white fish steaks with a breadcrumb top flavoured with lemon or parsley, then bake them in the oven for 10 - 15 minutes.

I think simple is best with fish. I bung it under the grill usually.

the fish section seems to have gone

Thanks

They do like shop bought goujons. I didn't know it was that simple to make.

I love rainbow trout and salmon but for some reason when they just see it on the plate with veg etc. they aren't completely enthusiastic. I need to make it look a bit more appertising I guess (without turning into Annabel Karmel!)

That sounds nice, Fio. I love roe.

I pmsl the other night in the chippy when 2 kids of around 15 bought roe by mistake thinking it was fish cakes. They both bit into their bit, looked uncertainly at the fryer and belatedly asked what it was. On being told "fish eggs" they both looked utterly alarmed and practically turned green. V amusing. They'd been trying so hard to look tough and manly only seconds before...

We all enjoy a salmon risotto - put a couple of fish fillets in the oven, wrapped in foil, gas mark 5 or 6 for 20mins-half an hour-ish. Meanwhile make a plain risotto, bit of onion, add some frozen peas near the end. Then flake up the salmon and stir in.

Do your children like tomato sauces? You could bake the fish in tomatoes/onion/garlic/peppers/brown sugar. Or what about trying tuna steak - a nice meaty fish.

If all else fails, lie to them. My mum used to tell us we were eating Giant Octopus so that we would think we were cool and very brave!!

What about homemade fishcakes?
Any fish like tuna, haddock, cod and chopped spring onions, mashed potato, bind with egg and dipped in breadcrumbs.

Salmon fillets with a topping of orange juice ,orange zest, parsley, breadcrumbs mixed together.
Grill on medium 10 mins or until fish cooked and topping browned.

Thank you all. My mouth is watering....but just a cheese sandwich for lunch.

fish cakes. I make them with salmon + dill or any white fish + parsley.
Or salmon in a tom sauce with dill, white wine and creme fraiche.
Or a white fish with orange juice + white wine + mushrooms + creme fraiche steamed in foil.
