What's in it?

Piffle · 26/06/2006 19:17

yes it is!
My dd has been on it since 8 mths
So long as you watch what you add to it sugar wise etc.

bramblina · 26/06/2006 21:02

Thanks Piffle. I don't add anything other than the water. F&Z I will get the ingredients for you next time I go downstairs! Or did you want them just to be able to answer my Q? Sorry! Thanks anyway!

Yes bramblina I thought if you told us the ingredients we could advise you a bit better; I've never heard of the brand so don't know what's in it

Piffle · 26/06/2006 21:33

Gem13 · 26/06/2006 21:34

If this is the one you make yourself at home - I thought it had a lot of E numbers in it...

I looked at buying it last year but the ingredients in the packs put me off.

Gem13 · 26/06/2006 21:34

That sounds fine then. A berry one sticks in my mind.

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2006 21:59

What, is it like a dehydrated thing and you add water??

Piffle · 26/06/2006 22:28

Yes essentially FZ
You can buy flavoured ones, although I only buy the plain bio or plain yoghurt
I've used it for 11 years, bought mine back in Nz where the good old thing was invented.
You use it like a thermos, add ater, shake, then plunge jar into flask of hot water and it turns to yoghurt in 8 hrs or so
It kikcs the ass of any yoghurt except Rachels Organic IMH but extensive yoghurt tasting O

bramblina · 26/06/2006 22:39

F&Z I thought so, thanks for bothering to be interested when all I diod was post then bugger off! Computer is upstairs and I forgot to bring the packet again! Thanks Piffle. I only have the reduced fat one, but the ingredients are similar- just milk solids, it was the cultures I had no idea about. They seem natural but you never know. Thanks everyone. F&Z this is it. Well worth it if your family eats a lot of yogurt.

moondog · 26/06/2006 22:41

Fine.
Mine eat tonnes of plain yoghurt and have done since about 7 mths.
I wouldn't give low fat though.Babies need a normal version.

lewsmummy · 26/06/2006 22:42

It doesn't answer your question bramblina but frannyandzooey i got mine off ideal world tv shopping

pupuce · 26/06/2006 22:43

Breastmilk is full of natural probiotics you know
Here for the medical info

Piffle · 26/06/2006 22:47

If I could still breastfeed my 12 yr old I would pupuce

bramblina · 26/06/2006 22:51

??? He is still breastfed. Don't get the connection though.

I had the low fat version from before he was born. Don't give him anything lowfat. Shall I not even let him have this one, or is it ok till I get the full fat one?

OP posts:
Piffle · 26/06/2006 22:54

low fat ok for adults and older children but babies need the full fat stuff.

pupuce · 26/06/2006 22:55

Just saying if breastmilk is full of probiotics it's OK to give them probiotics as you would if (when) you are BF!
