What to do with them?

I bought some in Lidl - and am unsure how to best eat/cook them.

I just chopped one up - it felt ripe - and am eating it as is. But it's pretty tasteless tbh.

Any tips??

I like them with ham, prosciutto or parma or something like that. In a salad.

I think you could also put yhem with a salty cheese like feta.

Thanks mary (excellent nn btw!)

Yes, I think will serve the rest with maybe goats cheese salad. I think they need a bit of 'something'.

Cut a cross shape in the top so that you can open them a bit, drizzle in some honey, pack into a dish so they stay upright, bake in a moderate oven for about ten minutes, serve with ice cream or cream or mascarpone.

Squeeze the insides out, mix with chopped cashews and walnuts, squeeze them into a sausage shape and wrap in cling film.

That's basically one of those 75p Naked bars right there.

Make a simple syrup with sugar and water - not too much. Add some honey and whole spices: star anise, a couple of cloves, a few coriander seeds, a bit of a cinnamon stick. Boil up the syrup, cool it, add the quartered figs, stew for five minutes or until tender. Cool and eat with yogurt or ice cream.

What fantastic recipes! Marking place. I just eat figs right out of the packet, including the skin.

Make a syrup with red wine, brown sugar and whole spices, simmer for a short while to release the spiciness into the wine, gently poach the whole figs in the wine syrup, will only need a few minutes. Serve hot or cold with just a little of the syrup and some small biscuits.
You can freeze the syrup and use it again, this works well with pears also.

Cut a cross in the top of the figs, stuff with a couple of squares of plain chocolate, wrap in oiled or buttered foil and bake for ten or fifteen minutes.
