Before I take the plunge and order it - having been convinced by MN that this will help me feed my little family more easily - any pros and cons to this model I need to know about?

I like the look , my DSis has it , there are 2 adults a toddler and a soon to be weaned baby to cater for.

thanks

Hi! Yes! I have this one and I love it. I accidentally broke the bowl at the end of last winter but my FIL has kindly replaced it for me.

My only "tip" would be to make sure it is COMPLETELY dry before you put the lid back on to store it - we had a bit of a mould problem initially. So now I just make sure to not place the lid fully on after I wash it so that the moisture doesn't get trapped in there.

We have made all sorts of yummy soups and casseroles. My favourite and my first one to cook this fall is going to be goulash (super easy just buy some cubed beef, brown it off then dump it in with a couple tins of chopped tomatoes, loads of paprika & some chopped onions). You can also throw chicken breasts in with a jar of salsa and have easy taco filling in 4 hours or so.

We bought a timer that you plug into the outlet and then plug the slow cooker into it - so that things that take only 4 or 6 hours you can set the slow cooker to turn on at 1:00pm or whatever. But I highly recommend this one.

Plus as the bowl is a ceramic, good quality one you can even put this in the oven or cook on the hob with it - but I've yet to try these.

Good luck & enjoy!

Thank you that sounds good and I have just seen it for £10 less on John Lewis website!
I am in maternity leave at present so can probably manage without the timer - just hoping that I can find time in the mornings so that we aren't preparing dinner / eating junk too late at night.

Defo! If you find yourself with some spare time I've seen on pinterest where people spend an afternoon preparing several different meals (so chopping, peeling, browning, etc) then putting them in freezer bags. Then all you have to do is dump it in from frozen - just give yourself a couple extra hours of cook time. Good luck!

I have that one and love it. Have used it on the hob and in the oven too, but it's a bit pointless in the oven IMO.

We have the larger size Crock Pot with the timer. It's great! It can be too big, but good for leftovers and freezing.

But what Yankee said - we had a similar problem with not drying it properly before storing with the lid on.

Thanks for the replies - have ordered. Am strangely excited. Hope it will help healthier eating.
