I'm making baon and leak asta bake for dinner (from a jar) and in a bid to eat extra fruit and veg have just realised there are 2 leeks in the fridge (was meant to be making leek and potato soup but havent been well enough so might as well use them up!) so thinking I'd serve pasta with a side of leek.
but how do I cook leek? do I steam, boil, fry? I've only ever cooked them in soup before Blush

I usually sauté them with lots of butter

We had chicken, leek and gammon pie tonight.

I sauté them (in a saucepan with a tad of water) and then add cream and whole grain mustard.

Slice them and rinse well as they hide mud, then pop in a sauce pan on a low heat with the lid on until soft, should take about 10 minutes. They will cook in their own steam, no need to add any water, or butter....although a bit if butter at the end does make them taste lovely!

As a side to pasta, sauté - but if you're serving them with sauce or anything with gravy, steam.
