Still giving my 19 month old formula milk

I'm still giving my dd formula milk rather than cow's milk. She is 19 months old. My reasoning for this is that she is a faddy eater and I thought that because formula milk is vitamin enhanced it might make up for some of the inadequacies in her diet.

Also I don't like the taste of straight cow's milk and assumed that my daughter might not either (whereas formula is quite sweet tasteing) - and I didn't want to switch her to cows milk and risk her not wanting it at all, thereby her calcium intake would get a big hit.

Anyway dd is looking slightly podgy - nothing major, just 'solid'. Could it be the formula ? (she has 21 fl oz over a 24 hour period)- I understand that it is quite high in calories?

As for cost? It works out "cheaper" per volume mixed than cows milk - well the hipp organic one does
It would have to, why oelse would parents be happily suckered into giving it til 2 or over if it didn't have some cost initiative?
My decision to use it still is not cos of cows milk not being liked or being bad... Simply because its better for my dd at this time.

My Grandfather was head of Nestles in Sri Lanka years ago and my Grandma used to go round the hospitals there giving free formula to all the mums who were made to think it was much better than bf. Then of course they had to buy ther stuff.

Grrrrrr, bloody Nestle.

In spite of their denials, Nestle and other baby milk manufacturers still have women dressed as health professionals lurking in shops in Indonesia. I saw them quite often. Poorer families who can't go on bearing the cost of formula eventually tranfer their baby to ordinary dried milk, with disasterous consequences.

It's not just the cost but other health problems are caused because they dont often have the necessary stuff to sterilise properly. My mum says my grandmother thought she was being kind!

dd is almost 19 months old and will be having her formula milk until 2 years old for a number of reasons. She does have the odd bit of cows milk but really not taken to it. She also has more than your dd - unless she is stacking on weight rapidly I would not worry about it.

She also drinks everything from a bottle - juice, water and milk. She cannot drink from a cup at this stage despite all good intentions on my part.

Has/is anyone used/using Dr Brown's bottles?. I would like to know whether or not you can get soft spouts for these bottles? My dd drinks a hyperallergenic formula milk. She is very sensitive to cow's milk. Her weight gain is fine, considering her food intake is very bad. I would like to get her to drink her milk from a cup but as already mentioned, the teat it is a comfort thing definately.
