Massaman curry question

When I do Thai, I normally make a green curry but fancy a change, is a massaman curry a milder version of a green or a completely different flavour?

It's similar but different. It sometimes contains peanuts or toasted coconut. It's very nice.

It's different I think. You can buy the paste in morrisons. We have it quite often but with chicken. It's very filling.

Thanks selks, I have Thai food shop near me that sells a Massaman paste I might give it a whirl.

It's a type of yellow curry, also thicker in consistency and sweeter. Massamun is known as a Muslim curry as it comes from the south and is usually made with chicken, lamb or beef, potato and peanuts.

Ooh now then, I don't like curries too sweet, you might have made me change my mind Sausage, that's helpful advice thankyou.

The paste in morrisons isn't as sweet as when you get it from the thai restaurant. It's not like a korma sweetness though, it's more subtle than that.

The lamb massaman in the Rick Stein Coast to Coast book is amazing, and not at all sweet. DH declared it the nicest he has ever had and he has eaten A LOT of curry in his time!

It looks a bit daunting when you see the list of ingredients, but is really easy, and well worth the effort
