DD 3.5y has asked for weetabix for dinner
I have said yes
There is a beef casserole simmering but she is looking like bed time is very close.

Go on slate me...

Yum I used to have dinner followed by 6 weetabix when I was a growing greedy teenager

desperatehousewife · 22/06/2006 18:23

my 4 yr old often has weeties for his tea

jellyjelly · 22/06/2006 18:24

Nothing wrong with it, ds often wants shreddies for dinner.

zippitippitoes · 22/06/2006 18:24

I used to have buttered weetabix

geogteach · 22/06/2006 18:26

Certainly used to give this to mine as babies when they were too tired to wait for whatever was cooking

southeastastra · 22/06/2006 18:30

sounds like a good idea, i am fed up of wasting food he doesn't eat. may try this tomorrow!

Mercy · 22/06/2006 18:33

Won't slate you at all. dd occasionaly had breakfast for dinner when she was younger and too tired to eat.

How does she last till 6pm for dinner? Mine are starving by 5!

Jasnem · 22/06/2006 18:36

my grandad used to give me weetabix buttered with golden syrup on it. Only for breakfast though...

FrannyandZooey · 22/06/2006 18:37

Weetabix + milk = same ingredients and nutrients as pasta and cheese / cheese sandwich

Porridge might have been marginally better. It all sounds fine to me.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 22/06/2006 18:39

I live on weetabix - will she have a banana on top? Yum.

I think it's fine, if that's what she wants and it's nutritious. Sometimes we should just let them have what they want.

Piffle · 22/06/2006 20:27

She slept til 4.15 pm from being asleep from 12.30
she is sleeping loads at the mo, think she is growing
not complaining!
She was in bed for 7 and is fast asleep
She had a banana after her 2 weetabix
porridge F+Z yes but that was her breakfast

I think that's absolutely fine!

ChasingRabbits · 22/06/2006 20:32

completely fine - I do it either when he is getting tired or I can't be bothered thinking of anything else. So the month either side of me having ds2, ds1 had ALOT of weetabix for tea

KBear · 22/06/2006 20:33

I used to give DS Weetabix for tea when he was in the "not eating bloody anything" stage, having tipped a lovingly prepared meal in the bin. Thank god he's grown out of it.

southeastastra · 22/06/2006 20:48

buttered weetabix sounds horrid, but i'm going to try some now.

Surfermum · 22/06/2006 20:52

DD often has weetabix for dinner if we've stayed at the beach a bit too long.

southeastastra · 22/06/2006 21:07

it was weird, a bit like ryvita

You should add golden syrup.
It's one of my best memories of my grandad.

kiskidee · 22/06/2006 21:13

I have weetabix for tea lots of times. I also have it post 10pm if my previous tea seemed to have not been enough.

AllieBongo · 22/06/2006 21:13
