I love S. Pellegrino, crisp and dry with a soapy after taste and wonderful carbonation which doesn't make you feel bloated.

As an everyday water I like Vittel..neutral flavour and it isn't too high in sodium.

Not very environmentally sound to drink bottled water don't you know....

NomDePlume · 22/06/2006 10:13

Our tap water is utterly rotten though, IMO (Severn Trent). Even DH won't drink it.

Northerner · 22/06/2006 10:15

Zippi - Yes Harrogate Spa water is everywhere in this town. My friends dh works there so we often get free bottles! They have got huge contracts now and supply all over the world.

The sulpher stuff though truly is gross. Never tried it, teh smell puts me off!

Bugsy2 · 22/06/2006 10:16

Drink tap at home & even ask for jugs of it in restaurants, but would also like to add another vote for Badoit. It is my absolute favourite. Hate Perrier - far too gassy.

zippitippitoes · 22/06/2006 10:33

our tap water is severn trent too..perhaps they have a copyright on disgusting water

vittel and san pellegrino are also both brands owned by nestle

as well as being environmentally unfriendly to bottle water

My Mum's water comes from her own borehole (oooer), and is great. Really cold too.

lazycow · 22/06/2006 10:37

I love London tap water too. Filtered just tastes odd to me. I don't like most other tap water I've tried - especially the soft stuff - yuk

In bottles I like Pellegrino.

controlfreaky · 22/06/2006 10:38

its got to be evian... although highland spring suprisinglt tasty imo.

zippitippitoes · 22/06/2006 10:39

I suspect that beer, wine and soft drinks are more environmentally bad than water ultimately..

my main source of water is the tap but as a treat I'm afraid I do like the odd bottle of mineral water

Hampshire tap is my favourite.
Bottled water, Panna from Tuscany (only as a treat in Italian cafe)
Does anyone remember Wogan doing a blind tasting of tap water back in the 80's? Apparently, you do prefer the tap water you grew up on. I always remember him taking a sip and exclaiming Ah! Nectar! when they gave him a glass from wherever he's from in Ireland.

Thomcat · 22/06/2006 12:40

Usually I do tap water but if buying a bottle out and about - Evina. (I bloody hate Volvic btw)

In a restaurant I like that Pellegrino stuff too.

handlemecarefully · 22/06/2006 13:36

Not really zippi because you can't get beer etc out of your kitchen tap. A bit criminally wasteful to use transportation etc for something so readily available in your own home

(sorry, I don't usually get the opportunity to hector people about environmental issues - I'm usually on the other end as an owner of a gas guzzler...so I'm enjoying the moment here )

zippitippitoes · 22/06/2006 13:39

but what if you are drinking it instead of wine, beer or soft drinks not instead of tap water?

I agree it is environmentally unfriendly..almost everything we do now is..but you can account for it I suppose, like carbon trade off in your own personal accounts

I liie Badoit because it's not too gassy.

The water here in Kent is foul. I have to drink it with something in even if only a dash of fruit juice. But maybe it's juts not being used to it.

Once stayed in Switzerland where we would go to the village spring each day & get big jugs of water to have on the table at meal times.

It was great!

zippitippitoes · 22/06/2006 13:49

ours is very hard surface water, yum

FrayedKnot · 22/06/2006 14:25

What like it runs off the road into your taps Zippi?

[confuded]

FrayedKnot · 22/06/2006 14:25

And even possibly a bit Confused too.

zippitippitoes · 22/06/2006 14:26

it goes through a treatment plant to have chlorine added to it between going down the drain and coming out of the tap!
