Red lentils or yellow split peas?

I have both. I usually end up using lentils because they don't need soaking, but am meal planning and could even stretch to overnight soaking if the split peas will be good in a dhal - what do you reckon?

Yellow peas and they don't need soaking.

My recipe uses both and rice Shock. It's an Indian friends recipe and is delish.

I soak all overnight

Thanks - will go for the peas then.

I'm now even more Confused about soaking but since I've got the time I might do belt and braces and do it anyway.

I made dhal last week. Soaked yellow split peas overnight, cooked as per directions for 40 mins and wanted it a little more 'mushy' so chucked in a handful of red lentils and cooked for a further 15 mins. Was lovely!!

Thanks, sounds good.

Normally I would be salivating at this point but am feeling distinctly queasy this morning, so am really hoping I'll get my dhal mojo back before this evening as I've soaked the peas...
