Need to make pastry, but have very little butter. What are my options?

I need to make some pastry, just enough to top a small chicken and leek pie, but I have only 50g of butter. I have three of my own kids here and one of someone else's so don't fancy the shops!

Other random fats in the kitchen are coconut oil, olive oil and most random of all, raw cocoa butter. I also have half a tub of mascarpone - could that be subbed for some of the butter?

I reckon the 50g butter will do for half the fat, so 200g flour and 50g of... what?

I wouldn't use marscapone - olive oil would be the best IMO. Actually lard would be the best, or any sort of spread - I've used Clover-type things in a pinch which are fine.

Thanks all, I went with the butter and olive oil combo. It was a little dry, I think the oil made it wetter, so I added less water than usual. Will try again though. Smile
