I NEED that recipe please please please please please!!!!!!

Twiglett · 08/09/2006 11:46

you need to throw some green & black's chocolate chunks into lemon drizzle mixture on the last stir

then you get sunken chocolate in the lemon drizzle

fab!

Iklboo · 08/09/2006 11:48

Twiglett - that's food PORN!!!

Medulla · 08/09/2006 11:48

Not sure if this is the one but I made this for DS birthday cake and it was lovely! mmm

Tutter · 08/09/2006 11:49

suzywong · 08/09/2006 11:52

ooooooh once second late with my post

thanks

Twiglett · 08/09/2006 11:53

bloody hell those quantities would make 2 cakes easily .. are you sure you shouldn't halve it?

Twiglett · 08/09/2006 11:53

traybake? you mean you do a flat square one? I do it in a loaf tin

hmmmmm

suzywong · 08/09/2006 12:05

that's what I thought
I'm going to halve it

and I will be using lemons from the tree in the garden

Sandcastles · 08/09/2006 12:15

was looking for this famous recipe. I think I'm turning into a proper housewive since coming to Oz. All I do is bake with DD! I too will be able to use my own lemons....

Twiglett · 08/09/2006 12:19

Green & Blacks version

125g (4.5oz) unsalted butter
125g caster sugar
2 lage eggs
150g (5 oz) sr flour
1 tsp baking powder
grated rind 1 large lemon
1 tbsp milk
3 oz dark chocolate

Drizzle
50g (2 oz) golden granulated sugar
juice of 1 lemon

Whisk butter, sugar, eggs, flour, baking powder and lemon rind for 2 mins. Whisk in milk to make soft dropping consistency. Stir in chocolate

Put in lined tin, smooth surface and bake at 180 for 40 mins

stir sugar into lemon juice and pour over cake in tin

leave cake to cool on wire rack (but in paper)

redbull · 08/09/2006 12:19

can we please have the recipe for the brownies now

Turquoise · 09/09/2006 10:13

Suzy how did the halving turn out? My attempts always fail miserably if I halve/double or otherwise mess about with quantities, but I want to have a crack at this one.
What size tray or loaf tin?
at lemon tree

suzywong · 09/09/2006 13:06

very, very nice if I say so myself
But I used butter as margarine of any description is, of course, the Devil's Work.
I used a 6 inch round spring form tin.

MrsApronstrings · 09/09/2006 13:08

I LOVE lemon drizzle - will attempt to make this later - although my baking experiences in the US have mainly been miserable failures ( i think the four is different)

suzywong · 09/09/2006 13:11

flour is different here and all, Mrs S

Ther's nothing like a McDougall's bag of SRF [sigh]

motherinferior · 09/09/2006 13:13

I'm not hog-whimpering wild about that G&B version, I have to say.

Hoxtonchick's partner's mum has a fabulous lemon drizzle cake too, which has made me almost as many friends as the Wongster's brownies.

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 17/09/2006 11:59

can i use butter in place of marg, does anyone know?

i don't do marg

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 17/09/2006 14:04

ah, come on.

otherwise i am going to just do it.

TooTicky · 17/09/2006 14:17

Not even all-natural non-hydrogenated marge?
