Like the student cookbook - but vegan

DS1 (19) is moving to his own place in a few weeks (yikes!) and I won't be close enough to pop in as often as I'd like.
Left to his own devices, he would survive on toast, bananas, cereal and flapjacks. At a push he can cook pasta and toast. I talked him through doing a stir fry this evening; he stood as far away as he could for fear of oil spitting on his clothes (Asperger's - hates food mess).
I looked around for a cookbook for him today, but the only vegan ones I could find are too 'fancy" for him - he likes plain food and dislikes gravies and sauces. And onions, peppers and chillies :-/
He's on minimum wage/zero hours contract, so his food budget will be very small.
What the heck is he going to eat?!?
All suggestions gratefully received!

This is as close as I've come to vegan on a budget, I know it is American but it's a start I suppose.

They also have a Facebook page, might be of more interest to a teenager

Could you perhaps type out all his favouite recipes and print them for him to take along to uni, just to get him started?

Thanx, I"ll check out that FB page.
I did think of making him some laminated recipe cards. I struggle to think what to cook for himself, tho, as his likes are so limited. Most one pot meals, ie, the cheap and easy stuff, are too wet/messy/spicy for him.
