If I freeze a punnet of strawberries...

Will they turn to mush when I defrost them?

I have loads of strawberries at the moment and thought if I froze some, I could use them next week in a jug of pinks, straight from the freezer. Will that work?

Also, could I do the same with some fresh mint?

Yes, they will. I don't know what a jug of pinks is, but they would be useable in a pie - a mushy pie. :)

You can freeze mint in icecube trays and get minty icecubes.

Oops, I meant pimms! Grin

I wouldn't defrost them, but you can use them to make smoothies. Frozen fruit makes a nice thick smoothie. I freeze any fruit thats about to go past it's best and use them that way.

Make strawberrie ice cubes to go in the pimms!

Slice strawberries and freeze in ice cube trays (with water obviously) pop out of ice cube trays into a bag and keep in freezer when pimms is ready

A) call me
b) pop strawberrie ice cubes out as required into glasses or jug!

Strawberry ice cubes and mint ice cubes - genius! :)

Someone once did me a desert of strawberries poached in pimms. They did go mushy but were delicious - I think we had them over ice-cream. Frozen strawberries would have been fine there, I think. Otherwise, use them while still frozen.

Or you can make jam with them post freezing.
