Toddler nursery tea (packed) - inspire me!

Oh heck. Work has gone bonkers so I'm pushing up my childcare hours a bit, and now have nearly 2yo DTs in nursery for one or two days right through till teatime.
The nursery doesn't supply food so I have to send in a separate tea, plus normal lunch and snacks, and they (well, DS) are right fussy blighters who won't eat pasta unless it's an Ella's packet which he's far too old for.

It's hard enough getting stuff into him at home when I can do eggy bread or fishfingers, anyone got any winning packed tea ideas I can steal?

will they reheay frozen or fridge d meals?

risotto
fish pie
meatballs
mild chilli and rice
chunky soup and crusty bread
cauliflour cheese
potato bake
bangers and mash
sausage and bean casserole
chicken stew
jambalaya
shepards pie
stir fry / noodle dish

I used to batch cook and freeze toddler sized portions to send to nursery or quickly micro after work.

we eat a lot of pasta though.

Can you cook extra of whatever you have for dinner yourself the night before and send that in? That's what we normally do.

On the days we've scoffed the lot, or eaten something DS won't like we try:

Spanish omelette
Tortilla wrap with melted cheese
Those packets of rice you cook in the microwave (usually just 50p in Asda)
Jacket potato wedges and dips

Hmm. Risotto was rejected last couple of times I tried. Cauliflower cheese ended in tears not just theirs
Fish pie I think will work
Meatballs they like but would have to figure out if they can be reheated without turning into bullets!
Never tried soup
Sausage and bean casserole sounds good.
Curry is usually a winner so Jambalaya and Chilli might work
Don't think stir fry or noodles would be even attempted by DS!

Like the sound of potato bake - how do you cook yours?

DS has previously rejected all egg (except eggy bread) so haven't tried omelette or frittata. He'll now happily eat egg sandwiches, so maybe I could try him on that. Pretty sure he still ejected scrambled egg the last time I tried though.

God I HATE fussiness!

Thanks for suggestions so far though, keep 'em coming!

Have you tried DS on a boiled egg? Bashing it and peeling it himself? Sounds daft, but they're called 'bang bang' in this house and are LO's favourite food. He loves bashing the shell then peeling it, and then it's perfect toddler sized portion Grin

Well that's an easy experiment!

Ha. Yes. And if he doesn't like it, there's a high protein snack for you instead.

How about cold meat - ham, chicken off the bone etc - with whatever salad he will tolerate - carrot sticks, cherry toms, cucumber batons, olives etc. You could also pop breadsticks/crackers/bread in there.

Or something like cold nuggets, sausage rolls, pork pies etc with the above?

Then raisins, grapes, chopped apple, yoghurt, cake bar, flapjack etc for pudding?

"Ham, chicken off the bone etc - with whatever salad he will tolerate - carrot sticks, cherry toms, cucumber batons, olives etc. You could also pop breadsticks/crackers/bread in there."

He'd eat the breadsticks..

I BET if I offered him cold sausage rolls or pork pie he'd go for it though.

I don't htink I've exactly raised a gourmand. Grin

Could you invert breakfast and tea? So cook him something like eggy bread for breakfast at home, then let him have porridge (assuming the nursery will reheat) and fruit for tea?
