Help - recipes for picky kids needed!

Ds is 4. He was always quite picky, but recently has narrowed his meal choice to pasta with cheese sauce, pasta with tomato sauce and pizza. Potatoes are an absolute no no (dh doesn't eat them either).

He eats at nursery during the week, but I have run out of ideas of things to try at the weekend. We try and eat together one day, but he and dd (1 yr old) sometimes eat on their own - usually something I've batch cooked.

Any ideas? Please?

Personally I'd not pander to eat. My dd was extremely fussy like this and one day we stopped giving her a choice. The food is served, if she's hungry she eats it and if she doesn't it gets cleared away about 20 minutes later. Took her a while to cotton on that it was eat it or go hungry but she soon sussed that one out Smile

See if you can get hold of a copy of My Child Won't Eat by Carlos Gonzalez too Smile

Will he do filled pasta like ravioli? Quesadillas? Filled crepes?

I know he eats better at nursery, but I've run out of ideas.

What do you feed your 4yr olds?

Exactly the same food we eat ourselves. 9 out of 10 times they say they don't like it but will eat, even if only a little bit.
I'm not running a cafe and will not entertain fussy eaters. I think pandering to their likes and dislikes is recipe for disaster!

A typical week for us would be:

Roast ham dinner
Carbonara (using leftover ham)
Corn Quesadillas
Salmon burgers
Toad in the hole
Homemade fish and chips
Fajitas or a korma

The other book I really recommend is the Usborne cooking for boys book. It encouraged my DS to choose recipes, help to cook and eat them.

Other things that have worked with my dd are serving really small portions, they can always ask for more and not commenting on what they do or don't eat.

Think there is a fussy eaters support thread somewhere on Mn if you have a search Smile
