Guidelines on freezing food? Do I need to throw away?

I froze a few items of fresh meat back in March. Poultry, salmon, beef mince and so on. For some reason I thought it would last six months, but the packs says to use within one month of freezing, meaning that I've grossly overestimated.

A friend says it depends on the freezer you have, to lengthen the time food can be kept frozen. But I'm really confused now, and embarrassed, that I don't know this.

Good grief, there's stuff lurking on my freezer that's over 18 months old. I'll get round to using it sometime in the next six months I'm sure. It may be a bit dry and need longer slower cooking to tenderise it, but health wise, it's fine! As long as you have a proper freezer, ie. one that goes to -18deg and not just an ice box in a fridge, you'll be fine.

i'm pretty sure it'll be fine.

If it's a proper freezer then you do get about 6 months.

As long as it's not freezer burnt I am sure it will be ok. I have stuff that's over 1 yr old too.
