What is the best recipe? I usually squirt a bit of ketchup and soy etc on them but the last few times they have been a bit disapointing, what secrets do you all have for the yummiest spare ribs?

Slow cook them .
In a spicy , barbecue type sauce , so the meat fall off the bones
It just doesn't work on a barbecue .

I can't give you an exact recipe as I just do it off the top of my head with whatever is handy but generally i use a mixture of the following, all of them if I have them all available.

honey/ maple syrup
lime/lemon juice or orange juice if nothing else
ketchup
sweet chill sauce
soy sauce
garlic/ginger if available
chinese fivespice

mix it all together cold and tip over the ribs. Cook with foil on top or in a lidded casserole dish for about 1.5 - 2 hrs

my usual recipe out of that would probably be honey, ketchup, lime juice, sweet chilli sauce, soy sauce and chinese five spice. Always tastes good!

Thats great thanks-have never used lime juice in them and i like the sound of it and 5 spice-i am always a bit wary of that as it can be so overpowering

I'm making it as we speak, couldn't stop thinking about it last night after writing the recipe down! I only use about a teaspoon of the fivespice - once it is all cooked in and sticky its a lovely background flavour.

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup paprika
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 teaspoon cayenne

Make the above mix ( the remains keep in a pot in freezer )

Run ribs in mustard,it keeps above mix stuck. pack on the above rub. Seal in tinfoil with 1/2 cup water

Cook at a very low heat for hours, like 250 F for 4 or 5 hours for a full rack of pork ribs. It needs to literally fall apart.

Uncover, brush with fave bbq sauce either stick on bbq to brown up or under broiler

Ribs to DIE for :o

Oh if you do pulled pork in crock pot that rub works great on that too, just the rub,no added liquid
