I hear so much about organic food boxes on this site I want to try one for myself. I'm interested in any recommendations, or feedback ... thankyou.

but buying from tesco (or any other supermarket)is terrible. you still have the problem of all the wastage because supermarkets won't sell anything that doesn't look perfect. also the food miles question - they'll buy stuff from abroad even when it's in season here because they can make more of a profit. please don't do it! read "shopped - the shocking power of supermarkets". that should change your mind!

I genuinely like the fact that you can't choose. It means I'm basing my menu around fresh and seasonal rpduce which I feel is the right way to eat.

I love Riverford, but I'm thinking of investigating a nearer scheme.

I used abel and cole when i had an accident and couldnt get to the shops for weeks, i found it very pricey and i got far too much of one product but the oranges were fab and dont like paying £1.65 for a cucumber.

Forgot to add i like that the veg doesnt come in plastic and that they come back for the boxes to be used. I agree very much with recycling and i was happy about that.

The other reason for not using Tesco, is that they treat their suppliers appallingly (particularly true for veg and meat). Organic box schemes are often co-operatives, and generally treat farmers much better.
