my 2yo dd is super sensitive to foods containing msg and high e numbers. they make her incredibly hyper then she goes on a downer once these foods are out of her system.

I've recently cut out all snacks and treats containing anything naughty...which are unfortunately all her favourite things like wotsits, fruit shoot drink etc.

my question for you is can you recommend some healthly snacks/treats that are still yummy I can give her? :)

Flavoured rice cakes.
Plain rice cakes with cream cheese on top
Pieces of fruit
Carrot sticks with humus
Bread sticks
Cubes of cheese
Plain yoghurt with fruit puree
Hard boiled egg
Toast
Handful of dry cereal
You could have a go at making either savoury muffins (I have a recipe if you want it, it's really easy) or sugar free banana muffins.

Also if she likes wotsits, why don't you just swap them for toddler crisps? The organix ones don't have any msg or added salt. My DD has them as an occasional treat.

I didn't give my kids snacks - why do you feel a 2 year old needs a snack?

I feel a lot of kids become fussy eaters because they are being fed snacks constantly and when they sit down to a meal they aren't hungry!

thank you for your suggestions CC !! will try them out! also could I trouble you for the recipes :)

snow- dd always eats all her meals!! she sits down between lunch and dinner and has a snack as I like the family to eat dinner all together at the table which means waiting for dp to return from work at half 6-7, when lunch is 12.30 6 and half hours to wait to eat again is a long time for dd to wait, she has a big appetite! so giving her a snack between keeps her going :)

Mine tends to just have fruit these days, maybe an innocent fruit smoothie if he's at a friend's (have you tried those?) but he does start shouting for dinner at 5pm, I am very impressed yours lasts so late!

I have a website where I upload food I make for mine, there is a 'healthier baking' section which you might be interested in. Link is www.toddler-recipes.co.uk if you are!

Mine sometimes lie milk whizzed up with a banana and some berries. Very filling and they love it.

Savoury muffins:

1 cup of milk
1.5 cups of self raising flour
2 cups of grated cheese
1 egg

Mix together and put into cake cases or a greased muffin tray and bake in the oven for 15/20 mins.

That's just the basic recipe (which is really nice) you can add anything you like. Cut up bits of ham is a good one. Or sweetcorn/roasted veg, whatever you like!
