Interesting pasta bake?

I usually just to a tomato and mozzarella one, which is nice but getting a bit boring. Any suggestions for an interesting flavoursome pasta bake which can sit happily in the fridge for the afternoon before bunging into the oven later? We have friends coming round, don't think there are any dietary issues. Smile

I do one which is pretty much a lasagne recipe but with fusilli rather than lasagne sheets. So a bolognese sauce, just all in one layer at the bottom, then pasta, then cheese sauce and grated cheese.

My "bolognese" is quite tangy, with Lea & Perrins, and mustard powder in it.

make a cheese sauce about the consistency of double cream using chicken stock instead of milk. add two teaspons dijon mustard and some nice cheese a bit of gruyere and some strong Cheddar. top your pasta bake with breadcrumbs parmesan and some cooked but not crisp streaky bacon. cook in oven until top brown and bacon crisp

I do what I call a rainbow pasta bake, with frozen peas, sweet corn, red onion, and peppers an sometimes turkey mince. Or a cheese one with herby chicken sometimes bacon, other random frozen veg and peppers. Very yummy.

I make a few really simple ones:

Pesto, steamed broccoli and cherry tomatoes mixed in with wholewheat fusilli, top with grated mozarella and basil leaves and bake.

I also do a cheese and broccoli bake which is basicaly just broc mixed into mac cheese, topped with grated cheddar and baked.

Grilled chicken breast pieces (marinate in garlc, lemon and pepper first and chargrill) and roasted veg mixed in to penne with passata and basil leaves, topped with mozarella and bake.

Meatballs are good in pasta bakes, too.
