White sprouting broccoli: stealth cauliflower? Or something more sinister?

Seriously, got it in my box. I'm not sure I understand sprouting purple broc, but white? It just looks like cauliflower. I don't like cauliflower. And I suspect white foods of being short on nutrients, for no real reason.

Anyone else ate it? What's it like?

I won't have the same texture as cauliflower surely. I've always hated the texture of cauliflower, and the way slugs and bugs used to hid in the florets. Don't know about nutritional value though, nutritionists are always going on about green leafy veg, so perhaps greenness has extra nutritional value in itself.

my parents used to grow it, way back when. As far as I remember, you treat it just like purple sprouting broc, so cut down to small florets and steam/boil then butter/olive oil.

We grow it. I think it tastes like broccoli. I don't like caulifower, but I like this.

Oh, glad to hear it tastes like broc. Texture is certainly more like broc.

I'm sticking it in a big random vegan stir-fry. Was thinking coconut milk + peanut butter, to make satay, but probably won't bother, maybe add some random seeds etc and hope for the best. The rice has onions etc in it, anyway.

Tomorrow I must face the globe artichoke problem. Can I use them like loofahs, instead of working out how to eat them?

I love globe artichokes, a bit fiddly to eat but delicious so long as they're not old and tough. You just boil them and then serve them with some butter on the side. Discard the first two layers of leaves near the stem as they will probably be to sinuey (sp?) to eat. Then just pull the leaves off one by one, dip the base in the butter and scrape off the soft bit with your teeth. When you get near the top there isn't enough on the leaves to bother any more, so remove the leaves and the 'hair' and eat the heart with a bit more butter. MMMMMMmmmmmm.
